VESPASIAN, (A.D. 69-79), silver denarius, Rome mint, issued A.D. 73, (3.05 grams), obv. laureate head of Vespasian to right, around IMP CAES VESP AVG CENS, rev. Vespasian seated to right holding branch and sceptre, PONTIF MAXIM around, (S.2305, RIC 65, RSC 387). Toned, good very fine and scarce.

Ex Spink Australia, February 1977 with ticket. The Reka-Devnia hoard contained 1725 denarii of Vespasian but only 13 of this variety.
