T. DIDIUS, (c.113-112 B.C.), silver denarius, Rome mint, (3.77 grams), obv. Roma helmeted head to right, ROMA monogram behind, rev. two gladiators fighting, one holds whip, the other a stave, [T].DEIDI in exergue, (S.171, Cr.294/1, Syd.550, RSC Didia 2). Banker's mark on obverse, otherwise good fine and rare.

Ex Noble Numismatics, sale 62, (lot 2310), previously from Christie's London, May 9, 1978 (lot 95 part). This type probably relates to T. Didius who was sent to Sicily in 138 B.C. to put down the revolting slaves.
