PELOPONNESOS, Messenia, Messene, silver hemidrachm, (late 2nd century B.C.), (1.85 grams), obv. head of Zeus to right, with diadem, rev. ME **S* either side of tripod, all within laurel wreath, (Sear before 146 B.C.), 2.40 grams, (S.2849, Grandjean 140b [This Coin, p.116, illustrated plate V, obverse die D79, reverse die R119], BCD 731 [p.186], BMC 13-14 [p.110, Pl.XXII,8], McClean 6713-4 [p.444, Pl.229, 5]). Toned, very scarce, good very fine with pitting on the reverse.
