MANUEL II PALAEOLOGUS, (1391-1423), silver half stavraton (quarter hyperpyron), Constantinople mint (Public Mint type), (3.26 grams), obv. bust of Christ facing. I C X C each side of Christ, dotted border within circles, rev. around traces of MANOVH**L* EN XPICTW TW **Q*W **P*ICTOC around the bust of Manuel facing, nimbate, a pellet in the left and right fields, (S.2552, PCPC 343.5, DOC 1483, LPC 2 [p.160] variant). Crudely struck as usual on a square flan, otherwise very fine.
