TITUS, (A.D. 79 - 81), AE sestertius, issued A.D. 80, Eastern mint (Thrace), (24.18 grams), obv. laureate head of Titus to right, around IMP T CAES DIVI VESP AVG P M TR P P P COS VIII, rev. IVD CAP across field, S C across, Jewish woman seated under palm tree on left mourning, to right a Jew standing, (cf.S.2524, cf.H.1596, RIC 500, RPC 503 [very similar dies]). Fine/good fine and very rare, known by only a few examples.
Ex Noble Numismatics, Auction Sale 53 (lot 2300, illustrated). An issue that commemorates the victory by the Romans over the Jews in the First Revolt.
