FRANCE, Casimir P‚rier memorial medal, 1832, in bronze (45mm) by Barre, obverse, head of P‚rier right, reverse, nine lines of text within wreath, legend around; Marshall Ney, undated, in bronze (41mm) by Rogan, obverse, head of Ney left, reverse, five lines of text relating to his death. The first nearly uncirculated, the second with some light scratches near the neck on obverse, otherwise extremely fine. (2)

Marshall Ney was executed by firing squad. At his request he was permitted to give the order to fire. Ney was a military hero of France and when he spoke to the firing squad he ordered them to aim straight for his heart.
