SCOTLAND, Edinburgh, unissued warrant 1840- of Sir William Alexander of Menstrie for twenty pounds; deposit receipt from Samuel Smith & Co, Derby Bank, 15 July 1873; cheques, The Commercial Bank of Scotland Limited, Dumfries, 11 Jany 1905, another for London County & Westminister Bank, Buckingham, 6th May 1918. The first with foxing, otherwise very fine - good very fine. (4)

Together with the history of The Warrants of Alexander Humphreys by Peter Symes. Humphreys, who used the title Sir William Alexander of Menstrie, was involved in many dubious financial schemes.
