GROUP OF FIVE: 1914-15 Star; British War Medal 1914-18; Victory Medal 1914-19; Defence Medal 1939-45; War Medal 1939-45. K.22349, H.G.Upshall, Sto.1., R.N. on first three medals, last two medals unnamed as issued. Named medals impressed. Swing mounted, good very fine.

Henry George Diamond Upshall, fish hawker, born 29Jan1896 at Sydneham, London; Enl.08Apr1914 for 12 year engagement; served on HMS Queen Elizabeth in Dardanelles and on HMS Malaya at the Battle of Jutland; spent 30 days in the cells and 90 days detention for theft; joined RFR 01Apr1920; Disch.01Jun1921; re-entered service 13Sep1943 as Leading Stoker.
