GROUP OF FOUR: 1914-15 Star; British War Medal 1914-18; Victory Medal 1914-19; Royal Naval Long Service and Good Conduct Medal (GVR type 1 swivelling suspender). 345355, A.R.Sanguin, Blk., R.N. on first three medals, 345355. A.R.Sanguin. Blksth. H.M.S.Leviathan. on last medal. All medals impressed. Swing mounted, very fine.
Alfred Robert Sanguin, blacksmith, born 22Jul1879 at Portsmouth; periods of engagement, 15Jul1902 for 12 years and 15Jul1914 to completion; served on many ships but most WWI service was on HMS Leviathan, a Drake Class Armoured Cruiser, with Grand Fleet 1914-15, Flagship N.America and W.Indies 1915-19, also acting as Auxiliary Patrol Parent Ship until 1917 (Atlantic convoys 1918).
