AUGUSTUS, as Octavian, (27 B.C. - A.D. 14), silver denarius, mint moving with Octavian in Italy, issued spring-summer 36 B.C., (3.56 g), obv. Octavian head to right bearded, around [IMP C]AESAR DIVI F III VIR ITER [R P C], rev. tetrastyle temple of Divus Julius, statue within, inscribed DIVI IVL on architrave, altar to left, border of dots, around COS ITER [ET TER DESIG], (S.1545, Cr.540/2, RSC 90, BMC Africa 33). Slightly off-centre on obverse, a banker's mark and porous surface, otherwise fine or better and rare.
