ITALY, Campania, Nola, (c.400-390 B.C.), silver stater or nomos, (6.79 g), obv. Athena head wearing crested Athenian helmet to right, bound with olive wreath and owl, rev. man-headed bull walking to right, above Nike flying to right, traces of **NWLAIWN*, below bull reversed **LE* monogram, double exergue line, (cf.S.312, Rutter 10 [obv. die 3, reverse die 7]); Italy, Lucania, Velia, (c.293/290-280 B.C.), silver nomos, stater or didrachm, (6.81 g), Period VIII, workshop of caduceus group, obv. head of Athena to left, wearing crested Athenian helmet with griffin, **F* on flap, AP monogram behind, rev. lion walking to right, caduceus above, **UELHTWN* in exergue, (cf.S.454, Williams 539 [similar dies]). Very good or better, second coin very porous and corroded. (2)
