NUMERIUS FABIUS PICTOR, silver denarius, issued 126 B.C., 3.38 grams, Rome Mint, Crawford 268/1b, Sydenham 517a, B. Fabia 11, BMC 1173, Obv. Helmeted head of Roma to r., behind *, below R, Rev. Q. Fabius Pictor, seated to l., shield at side inscribed QVI/RIN, on r. N.FABI and on l. PICTOR, in exergue ROMA. Toned nearly very fine and very rare, (1431).

Ex C.Pitchfork Collection and previously from the Duke of Northumberland Collection, sold at Sothebys, London, November 4, 1982 (lot 253 part). This is the Specimen described on p.75 by Rear Admiral Henry Smyth 'Descriptive Catalogue, A Cabinet of Roman Family Coins belonging to His Grace the Duke of Northumberland K.G.', published 1856.
