AUGUSTUS, (27 B.C.-14 A.D), silver denarius, issued 7-6 B.C., Lugdunum Mint, 3.81 grams, RIC 207 (Original RIC 350), C.43, BMC 533, Ashmolean 156-173, Obv. Augustus head laureate to r., around CAESAR AVGVSTVS DIVI F PATER [PATRIAE], Rev. Gaius and Lucius Caesar, on l. and r. standing to front, each with togate and resting hand on shield; behind each shield, a spear, above on l. a simpulum to r. and on r. lituus to l. in exergue C. L. CAESARE[S], around [AVGVSTI F C]OS DESIG PRINC IVVENT. Lightly toned, slightly off centred obverse, nearly extremely fine, scarce, (75).
