GAIUS (CALIGULA), (37-41 A.D.), AE As, issued 37-8 A.D., Rome Mint, 11.03 grams, RIC 38, C.27, BMC 45-48, Sear 616, Obv. Around C. CAESAR. AVG GERMANICVS PON M. TR. POT., bare head to l. of Gaius, Rev. Above VESTA, S-C to l. and r. of Vesta, veiled and seated l. on ornamental throne, r. hand holds patera and l. hand a long transverse sceptre. Very fine, edge with flattening marks, (843).
