PAPUA NEW GUINEA, For Loyal Service Medallion, type 1, 1944, in sterling silver, designed by Australian Military Forces, struck by Stokes Australia, holed for suspension ring and chain, reverse numbered, '473' and inscribed to 'R597 Nomi Paio', with short chain. Nicely toned, bright area on reverse where double sided tape removed, otherwise good very fine and scarce.

This medal illustrated on p297 of From Cowrie to Kina by Dr William J.D. Mira and confirmed as a genuine issue.
