GWAILOR STAR 1843. Private John Saltry H.M. 9th or. Queen's Royal Lancers. Engraved. Medal missing suspension, otherwise very fine.

This medal manufactured from metal of the guns captured at the battles of Maharajpoor and Punniar. 945 Pte John Saltry shown on the roll of the 9th Lancers as entitled to the Sutlej Medal with clasp Sobraon and to the Punjab Medal with clasps Chilianwalla and Goojerat. His name is recorded on the Sutlej roll as Palky. His death on the roll is recorded as 11 Oct 1849.
