MACEDON, Kingdom of, Alexander III, (336-323 B.C.), gold stater, (8.540 grams), Babylon mint, issued 311-305 B.C., obv. head of Athena to right in crested Corinthian helmet, ornamented with serpent, rev. Nike standing to left, holding wreath in outstretched hand, MTP monogram in wreath in lower left field, to right MI, to left **BA SILEWS*, to right **ALEXANDP[OU]*, (cf.S.6702; Price 3745, M.733, BMC 3745). Nearly extremely fine and rare.
