FAMILY GROUP TO MARRIED DENTIST AND NURSE: Husband: Group of Seven: 1939-45 Star; Africa Star; Pacific Star; Defence Medal 1939-45; War Medal 1939-45; Australia Service Medal 1939-45; Efficiency Decoration (GRI). VX205 A.E.Prytz on first six medals, VX205 Maj. A.E.Prytz AIF on last medal. First six medals impressed, last medal engraved. Wife: Group of Seven: The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, Member (MBE) (Civil) (EIIR); 1939-45 Star; Pacific Star; Defence Medal 1939-45; War Medal 1939-45; Australia Service Medal 1939-45; Silver Jubilee Medal 1977. The first and last medals unnamed as issued, VFX114057 M.A.Bryse on second, fourth - sixth medals, 411672 N.V.Watson on third medal (see note below). All named medals impressed. First group swing mounted very fine - good extremely fine, second group court mounted very fine - good very fine.

Together with matching set of original miniature medals for both groups, ribbon bar and medal issue slip for first medal group and medal issue slip for second group. This latter slip shows an entitlement to 1939-45 Star however her dossier is annotated '1939/45 Star wrongly assessed, should have been Pacific Star', hence the inclusion in her group, presumably by her, of a Pacific Star named to another person. This other person was 411672 Flying Officer Neville Verdun Watson, RAAF, Enl.24May1941 and Disch.19Jun1945 ex 1674 HCU Aldergrove. Also includes several b&w photos of Mrs Prytz (nee Bryse) in her various Royal Women's Hospital roles and colour photo of Dr Prytz's grave.

MBE: New Year's Honours 1.1.1967 to Mavis Amy Prytz as President - Victoria Royal Women's Hospital.

Arthur Eaton Prytz, dentist, born 13Oct1904 at Hawthorn, Victoria; Enl.14Nov1939 at Melbourne with Dental Service and allocated to 6 Div as Captain; Emb.14Apr1940 for Middle East and service in Palestine with various medical units; Appt Major 02May1941; RTA 17Mar1942; service at Katherine and Heidelberg military hospitals; Emb.03May1945 with 2/9 AGH for service in Morotai; RTA 22Feb1946; Disch.03Apr1946 ex AADC; to Reserve of Officers 04Apr1946; resumed dental practice at Collins Street, Melbourne; Married (second occasion) to Mavis Amy Bryse; Died 19May1975.

Mavis Amy Bryse, trained nurse, born 18Nov1912 at Prahran, Victoria; Enl.08Jan1940 in militia with AANS; service with various Australian military hospitals as Sister; 23Oct1942 to AIF; 23Mar1943 apptd Captain; 15Aug1945 operations in Netherlands East Indies with 2/12th AGH and deplaned Morotai; Emb.17Nov1945 from Balikpapan for Sydney; RTA 01Dec1945; Disch.15Apr1946 to Reserve of Officers; Died 23Jul1984 at Armadale, Victoria.

Mrs Mavis Prytz had a long and very committed association with the Victoria Royal Women's Hospital. She was on the Board of Management from 1952 to 1980. Her commitment to the auxiliaries was profound. She was a member of the Central Council of Auxiliaries for many years including two periods as President. She was also their Patroness and worked as Honorary Auxiliaries Organiser. In recognition of her service to the Victoria Royal Women's Hospital she was recognised with an MBE in 1967.
