A. PLAUTIUS, (c.55 B.C.), silver denarius, Rome mint, (3.706 grams), obv. Cybele turreted head to right, A. PLAVTIVS before, AED CVR S.C. behind, rev. Bacchius kneels to right with camel at his side, with olive branch, [BAC]CHIV[S] in exergue, IVDAEVS on right, (S.395, Cr.431/1, Syd.932, B.Plautia 13). Toned, slightly off centred reverse, very fine and rare.

The kneeling figure is Aristobulus, the Jewish high priest then held captive by Pompey in Rome.
