MANUEL I COMNENUS, 1143-1180, billon aspron trachy 28mm, (3.20 g), Constantinople mint, third coinage 1160-1164, obv. The Theotokos (Virgin Mary) enthroned facing holding before her the nimbate head of infant Christ facing, monogram of MP **Q*[V] either side of nimbus, rev. Emperor standing facing, holding labarum and globus surmounted by patriarchal cross to left MANuH**[L DE*C**PO]TH*C, (S.1964, Hendy Pl. 15, 9; DOC 12a). Very fine, weak in places as usual.
