Ex Sotheby Zurich auction October 1993 lot 235 (Illustrated) being the Athena Fund sale.
This coin was present (No.11) in the Selinus Archaic Silver Hoard MN 33 which contained 35 coins from Selinus and comprised only those issues with no selinon leaf on the reverse. The hoard is the most extensive find of this mint, with 165 silver coins and four silver ingots. The hoard was buried between 510-500 B.C. and is consequently the earliest of its kind found in Sicily.
