PALESTINE, Judaea, First Revolt, (A.D. 66-70), silver shekel, issue struck year 2 = A.D. 67-68, (14.15 g), obv. chalice with pearl rim of ten small pearls, around in Hebrew "shekel of Israel", "Year two" above chalice, rev. stem with pearled bottom and three pomegranates, legend around in Hebrew "Jerusalem the holy" (S.5629, Meshorer 151 [p.154, Pl.XIX], H.659 [121], BMC 7-9, SNG ANS 421-424). Extremely fine and rare.
Ex Noble Numismatics Sale 84 (lot 1991) and previously from Antiquarius, New Zealand, August 1986 and that from Worbes Berlin Auction, May 1981 (lot 27).
