Ingoldisthorpe staters were among the first gold coins struck in Britain, as their heavy weight testify. This Ingoldisthorpe Triquetra has a lovely old toning and was unearthed many years ago. This is a famous, well documented stater. It was featured in Dr John Sill's important paper 'The ABC of Westerham gold' (Chris Rudd list 33, 1998, p.2-4, fig.6). It was also the plate coin in Spink's Coins of England from 2000 to 2005 (fig.20B).
