SICILY, Syracuse, (c.466-405 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (17.22 g), obv. slow quadriga driven to right by male charioteer, Nike flying left crowning charioteer, ketos in exergue, rev. **SUPAKOSI ON around to right, head of Artemis-Arethusa to right, hair bound in thin band, four dolphins around, (cf.S.913, Boehringer Series XVIb 571 (obverse 287, reverse 391 dies), SNG ANS 184, Bement 79, Pozzi 581). Attractively toned, uneven flan and an area of flat striking on the obverse, otherwise extremely fine and rare.
