AUGUSTUS, (27 B.C. - A.D. 14), silver denarius, Lugdunum mint, struck 8 B.C., (3.81 g), obv. laureate head to right of Augustus, around AVGVSTVS DIVI F, rev. Gaius Caesar on horseback galloping right, holding sword and reins, eagle between two standards behind, [C.CAES] above, AVGVS F below, (S.1596, RSC 40, RIC 199). Golden toning, very fine and very scarce.
