JUSTINIAN I, (A.D. 527-565), AE follis, Antioch as Theoupolis mint, issued 553-554, officina **G*, (18.43 g), obv. Justinian bust facing, around DN I**LOML* LISCPI**G*VI (sic), rev. M, X/X/X/UI to right, THEUP in exergue, large flan, **G* Bbelow M, (S.223, DOC 232a, BMC -, T.-, Ratto 670). Dark green and brown patina, nearly very fine/very fine and very rare.

Ex Noble Numismatics Sale 101, lot 3641.
The poorly rendered obverse legend shows that the officina had no idea of the emperor's normal reading of the obverse legend. The coin is most unusual and very interesting.
