PAIR: Queen's South Africa Medal 1899 (type 2 reverse with clear ghost dates), - four clasps - Cape Colony, Paardeberg, Driefontein, Transvaal; King's South Africa Medal 1902, - two clasps - South Africa 1901, South Africa 1902. 6233 Corl A.Miller, 2: Sea: Highrs: on first medal, 6233 Corpl: A.Miller. Seaforth Highrs: on second medal. Both medals impressed. Swing mounted, small patch of double-sided tape residue on back of both ribbons, contact marks, otherwise extremely fine.

Alexander Miller, labourer, age 20, born at Watten Wicks in Caithness, Scotland; Enl.30Aug1898 at Dover, England; to L/Cpl 25Feb1899; promoted to Cpl 19Apr1901; taken as prisoner-of-war 04Jun1900 at Swalkrantz (also Swalkranz) but actually Swavelkranz, a farm 25km north-west of Heilbron and released 02Jul1900; passed Mounted Infantry certificate 1903; reverted to Private at own request 01Feb1904; granted 2 Good Conduct badges 01Apr1904; Trf to Army Reserve 10Dec1906; Disch.28Aug1910; overseas service included South Africa 21Oct1900-26Oct1902 and East Indies 27Oct1902-08Dec1906; medal entitlement confirmed.
