Recommendation for MC - 'During the operations east of Ypres on 4th October 1917, this officer was engaged in the construction of a strong point near Molehaarelsthoek. To reach the site it was necessary to pass through several retaliatory barrages, and through his able leadership and magnificent example of devotion to duty all was accomplished as required. Having set his party to work he personally reconnoitered his surroundings and captured a German Officer and batman in a dugout. By searching the officer and his belongings Lieut Dilworth was enabled to obtain and send back to Brigade Headquarters some valuable information, including many maps. Later on when his work was subjected to exceedingly heavy shelling he set a magnificent example of devotion to duty and personal bravery getting all his men into safe positions.'
MC LG 5/4/1918 - 'For conspicuous gallantry, ability and devotion to duty under heaviest shell fire. During the offensive operations near Glencorse Wood east of Ypres on 20th September 1917, he sited and constructed a very valuable strong point, in the first wave of the attack, under very heavy retaliatory enemy barrage fire. By his magnificent example of determination and leadership during those trying conditions, his party of Sappers and Infantry with stores was successfully organised'.
