ITALY, Lucania, Metapontum, (c.340-330 B.C.), silver nomos, stater or didrachm, (7.58 g), obv. female head to right with hair bound up behind in a sphendone, rev. seven grain barley ear, leaf to right, traces of META**PON* to left, (cf.S.410, Noe 494 [same reverse die], BMC 133 [same dies], McClean 966 [same dies]). Bright, good fine and a very scarce type.
