SICILY, Syracuse, Hieron II (275-215 B.C.), silver sixteen litrai, (13.97 g), obv. diademed and veiled head of Philistis to left, behind palm, rev. galloping quadriga to right driven by Nike with horses walking, above **BASILISSA[S]*, below **FILISTID[OS]*, other letters off flan, (S.989, cf.SNG ANS 882/883). Very fine and rare.
