ENGLAND, Elizabeth I, (1558-1603), Portcullis silver two testerns (or reales), mm O, struck 1600/1, obverse legend ends REGI (Pr.3; S.2607c). Deep grey and iridescent toned patina, extremely fine and very rare, possibly the finest known.

Ex Noble Numismatics Sale 85B, lot 1629, the R.A.Climpson Collection. Previously Spink Australia February 1988. Salvesen catalogue reports 34 known, of which 18 are in private hands.
