HADRIAN, (A.D. 117-138), silver denarius, issued 136, Rome mint, (3.27 g), obv. bare head to right of Hadrian, around [HADR]IANVS AVG COS III P P, rev. [AF]RICA around, Africa reclining to left, wearing elephant-skin head-dress, leaning on a rest, holding scorpion and cornucopiae, a basket of fruit or corn-ears in front of her, (cf.S.3459, RIC II.3: 1492-1500, RSC 140, BMC 813). Toned, struck on an uneven flan, nearly extremely fine and scarce.
