CARIA, Pixodaros as satrap, (340-334 B.C.), silver didrachm, (6.95 g), obv. laureate head of Apollo three-quarter face to right, rev. Zeus Labraundos standing to right holding labrys and sceptre, to right **PIXWDARO[U]*, (S.4966, BMC 5-10, Pixodarus 11-47 [unlisted dies], SNG Keckman 280, SNG Cop 596-7). Attractively toned, of exceptional artistic merit, extremely fine and very rare in this condition.
