SELEUKID EMPIRE, Kingdom of, Seleukos I Nikator, (312-281 B.C.), silver tetradrachm in the name of Alexander III, (16.92 g), Babylon mint, issued c.311-300 B.C., obv. head of Herakles to right wearing lion skin with dotted border, rev. Zeus seated on throne to left, eagle in outstretched hand, monogram ME above club, **HD* monogram below throne, in exergue **BASILEW[S], ALEXANDR[OU]* to right, (cf.S.6713, SC Ad576F, Price 3772, HGC 9 10f). Good fine, rare. Broad flan, toned, nearly very fine.
