GORDIAN III, (A.D. 238-244), silver antoninianus, Rome mint, issued 240, (3.85 g), obv. radiate bust right, around IMP CAES M ANT GORDIANVS AVG, rev. Gordian standing left holding wand and patera over altar, around P M TR P II COS P P, (S.8637, RIC 37, RSC 210) (illustrated); another, (3.73 g), rev. Jupiter standing with sceptre and thunderbolt held over Gordian standing to left, (S.8631, RIC 16, RSC 189). Toning, very fine. (2)
