Sapr. J.H.Mackness. R.E. on first medal, 4336 Sapr J.H.Mackness. R.E. on second medal, 70025 Sjt J.H.Mackness R.E. on third to fifth medals, Josiah Howard Mackness. on last medal. The first medal engraved, all other medals impressed. Fine - extremely fine.

J.H.Mackness served in South Africa with Royal Engineers, Telegraph Battalion, 1st Division. His QSA clasp entitlement confirmed. After serving he was discharged to the Army Reserve.
