Citation: For gallant and meritorious service during the battle El Alamein 23 Oct. - 03 Nov. 42. Bdr Price showed exceptional courage and determination in getting and keeping line communication to F Tp OP on all occasions. When the OP was with 15Bn the line ran for 1 1/ 2 miles in front of the enemy lines and was in places very close to the enemy FDLs and anyone maintaining the line was continually exposed to heavy MG and Mortar fire as well as shelling. Bdr Price ran the gauntlet of this fire continually for a period of nearly 48 hours in an endeavour to keep L/T through. On 31 Oct. 42 he kept communication through despite heavy enemy attacks and enabled the OPO to carry out a quick shoot on Mk IV Tks (tanks) which were attacking D Coy 15Bn. The counter attack was beaten off. The outstanding work and fine efforts of Bdr Price set a very high example for others.
