THRACE, Kingdom of, Lysimachos, (323-281 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.91 g), Kalchedon mint, issued after 281, Seyrig for type claims about 195 B.C., obv. head of Alexander to right, with diadem and horn of Ammon, rev. Athena Nikephoros enthroned to left, supporting Nike, spear behind, AN in inner left, and in exergue grain ear and **KALCA*, to right **BASILEWS*, to left **LUSIMACOU*, (cf.S.6814, Thompson -, Hunter 57, Mektepini Hoard 156 [Pl.7 same obv. die, different rev.], M.376 variant, HGC 7, 527 [This Coin illustrated] [R2]). Bright, nearly extremely fine or better and extremely rare, (apparently the only coin of this type noted in Coin Archives].

Ex CNG Mail Bid Sale 60, May 22, 2002 (lot 466) and previously from Mail Bid Sale 45, March 19, 1998 (lot 277). Interesting spelling of mint name in exergue, this coin illustrated in Hoover, Historical Greek Coins Vol. 7 page 178 (No.527).
