ITALY, Lucania, Metapontum, (c.500-480 B.C.), silver nomos, stater or didrachm, of smaller compact fabric, (7.81 g), obv. corn ear, META upwards to left, partial lizard to right, rev. incuse corn ear, (cf.S.238, Noe 216 [similar dies], cf.SNG Cop. 1168, cf.SNG Munich 937). Graffiti on reverse, grey tone, otherwise very fine and rare type.
