COMMODUS, (A.D. 177-192), AE sestertius, Rome mint, issued A.D. 181-182, (21.38 g), obv. laureate head of Commodus to right, around M ANTONINVS [CO]MMODVS AVG, rev. around TR P VII IMP IIII COS III P P, S C across field, Roma helmeted in military dress, standing facing, head left, holding Victory and spear, (S.-, RIC 324410, C.829, BMC 477). Brown patina, rough on surface of obverse, otherwise good very fine and rare.

Ex AK Collection previously from the stock of Munzen und Medaillen, Basel Switzerland in 1969 with photo and descriptive priced ticket from Noble Numismatics.
