MAXIMUS I, (236-238 A.D.), silver denarius, Rome Mint, (2.72 g), obv. bare head bust of Maximus to right draped and seen slightly from behind, MAXIMVS CAES GERM, rev. PRINC IVVENTVTIS around, Maximus in military dress, standing half left holding baton and transverse spear with point downwards, to right two standards, (S.8406, RIC 3, BMC 211-2, RSC 10). Attractively toned, extremely fine and rare as such.
