MACEDON, Kingdom of, Alexander III, (336-323 B.C.), silver didrachm 19mm, (8.13 g), Babylon mint, struck under Stamenes or Archon, c.324/3 B.C., obv. head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin, rev. Zeus Aetophoros seated left, **ALEXANDR[OU]* left downwards, M in left field, complex monogram below throne, (S.6727. Price 3603, M.674, HGC 3, 913e [R1]). Fine, toned, slightly porous, very rare.
