SYRIA, kings of, Antiochos III, (223-187 B.C.), silver drachm (3.84 g), Apameia on the Orontes(?) mint, struck c.223-211 B.C.), obv. diademed head right, rev. elephant walking right; monogram to outer right, (S.6940, SC 1065.4 [this coin referenced], Houghton 1188 [this coin], HGC 9, 453a). Very fine, toned, die shift on reverse, very scarce.
Ex Dr L.J. Sherwin Collection, previously from CNG Mail Bid Sale 69, June 8, 2005 (lot 533) and came originally from the Arthur Houghton Collection.
