1914 MONS STAR. 9867 Pte J.Cain.2/R.W.Fus. Impressed. Very fine.

Together with riband bar for WWI trio.

Private John Thomas Cain, 2 Bn Royal Welsh Fusiliers; was stationed in Chakrata, India when war declared and immediately his unit moved to Western Front in France and fought at Mametz Wood; strangely British soldiers then played football with German soldiers on Christmas Day 1914 and this did not sit well with authorities; while on leave in 1916 got married and then transferred to 6th Territorial Bn of Royal Welsh Fusiliers; Disch.1919; Died in 1940 at Melbourne, Vic, Australia.
