ITALY, Lucania, Poseidonia, (c.530-500 B.C.), silver stater, (7.57 g), obv. Poseidon, naked but for chlamys over shoulder, advancing right brandishing trident in right hand and extending left arm, **POS* retrograde to left, dotted border, rev. Poseidon striding left as on obverse, reversed and incuse **POS* (retrograde), (cf.S.241, SNG ANS 613 var, HN Italy 1107). Lightly toned, some surface pitting and lamination losses, nearly extremely fine and very rare.
