MACEDON, Skione, (c.480-470 B.C.), silver tetradrachm 24 mm, (16.81 g), obv. head of Protesilaos to right, wearing crested Attic helmet, rev. **S* K I O, stern of galley to left, all within incuse square, (S.-, AMNG III, -. Dewing 1076, Kraay ACGC 470, SNG ANS -, SNG Delepierre -). A wonderful example of this usually crude issue, nicely toned and with a particularly individual and impressive head of Protesilaos, good very fine and very rare.

Ex Leu Numismatik Auction 1, October 25, 2017 (lot 39), with ticket, noted as coming from a German collection, assembled since the 1960s.
A recent sale of a similar example by Gorny & Mosch, Auction 280, October 11, 2021 (lot 174) realised 9000 Euros.
