CENTRAL GREECE, Magnesia, AE of the Magnetes a tribal group on the eastern border of Thessaly a collection of various denominations, all with described references to BCD Thessaly II (CNG Triton XV) and Handbook of Greek Coinage with volume number (HGC 4) as described in HGC, mostly c.150-130 B.C., obv. either Poseidon head right or left, Artemis or Apollo heads, denomination B, rev. Cheiron, (HGC 64 [BCD 418.5] and 65 [BCD 420.1] with palm branch before (illustrated), 66 with thunderbolt BCD 419.8]); prow issued 150-130 B.C. (HGC 68 [BCD 421.3]) with palm branch before (illustrated), denomination C with various reverses (HGC 71 [BCD 417.3], 72 [with palm branch before BCD 417.8], 73 [with palm branch BCD 417.9], denomination D rev. ship's ram (HGC 77, BCD 416.5) this issued in 1st century B.C.
