BANK OF NEW SOUTH WALES, five pounds, issued at Sydney, April 1, 1876, (18 printed), No.A/A 154745, hand signed by Manager E.R. Halloran and entered by J.H. Potts. Imprint in centre of bottom, 'Charles Skipper & East, London. (New England Hoard No. 67 [Report of ANS 1974 yearbook, pp.49-68], Vort-Ronald, p.67-85 on bank, and similar note illustrated as Fig.78, Tomlinson p.24 illustrates five pound note of type). Folds and creases, with some aging tone, a few minor pinholes, otherwise good fine and rare.

The Bank of New South Wales five pound notes of this type all come from the New England Hoard of 1971, [Pitchfork & Freehill, 'A Significant Hoard of Nineteenth Century Australian Commercial Banknotes' [ANS 1974 Yearbook], where some 60 five pound notes were found out of a total hoard of 123 banknotes of mostly five pound denomination.
