GROUP OF FIVE: 1939-45 Star; Pacific Star; Defence Medal 1939-45; War Medal 1939-45; Australia Service Medal 1939-45. First two medals unnamed, 14723 S G Bines on other three medals. All named medals impressed. Swing mounted, with some oxidation and stain marks, otherwise fine - very fine.

Together with riband bar for first three medals, this dirty and aged; dog tag in aluminium marked, 'Bines S G/14723/RAAF/CE'; WWII Returned From Active Service badge, reverse numbered AF125490; City of Parramatta Returned Ex-Servicemen's Club name badge for Sid Bines.

Sidney George Bines, general labourer and truck driver, born 24Feb1911 at Tendering, Essex, England; came to Australia in Aug1926 under Barnardo migration scheme; Enl.29Apr1940 at No.2 Recruiting Centre, RAAF, Sydney, NSW; various postings including overseas service with 80 Sqn at Hollandia and Morotai, as well as 470OBU (Operational Base Unit) and 9TMO (Transport & Movements Office) at Noemfoor; Disch.23Nov1945 as Leading Aircraftman ex 2 Personnel Depot Reserve Pool.
