SOLD $320

AUSTRALIA, WWI, Voluntary Ballot A.I.F. badge in silvered with B in blue enamel (28x33mm), by Angus & Coote Ld, Sydney, pin-back, reverse with impressed number D1208. Some spotting on reverse, otherwise extremely fine and rare.

The Voluntary Ballot Enlistment Scheme was introduced in 1918 and a badge was issued to anyone who submitted their name voluntarily so it could be worn on civilian clothing and thus avoid the public accusing them of cowardice for not serving. The scheme was short lived as the Armistice was signed on 11 November 1918.

Estimate / sale price does not include buyer's premium (currently 22% including GST) which is added to hammer price. All bids are executed on the understanding that the Terms & Conditions of sale have been read and accepted. For information on grading and estimates please refer to the Buying at Auction advice.
